What is neon art?

Differing from a neon sign, neon art is not used to advertise or guide. It is instead used to lighten up an environment or create a statement. Neon art is great to liven up an office space or to decorate a wall in your home.

It can be a simple word or phrase, or it can be an image. You can have your neon put straight on the wall, or it can be combined with other materials such as wood, acrylic or metal backings to help it stand out.

How do I create neon art pieces?

You do not have to be an artist to create a piece of neon art. If you have a phrase that means a lot to you, or a logo you wish to convert, we can help. Even something as basic as a name can be turned into neon .

The first step is to work out what you want. If you have some ideas, we will help go through the options to help work out what it is you are after. Once you know what the sign is going to say or look like, there are a range of backings to choose from.

Once all the details of your piece are decided and a price has been agreed, we then proceed to the artwork stage where we draw up your design so you can see what it is going to look like. When you are happy with how it looks, we then send the design down to our glass shop and they create your neon for you to enjoy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you have available to buy?

All of our signs are custom made to order, so we do not have a stock list that you can choose from. However, if you send us a picture of something along with a size, we can get a price over to you to make it.

I am not from a big company, can you do something for my house?

We can certainly make a piece for your house. We are happy to work with you to try and achieve something that is both within your budget and looks great

I am not familiar with neon, what do I need to know to be able to get a price from you.

Do not worry if you have not dealt with neon before. There are several different factors that affect the price. For a comprehensive guide on specifying neon, please click here. As a general guide though, for a text based sign, we need to know font style, letter height and what it says. For logos or images, we would need to see it and know how big you want it. These will allow us to get a starting price sent over.

I need something made really quick, how long does it take to make a piece?

Our standard turnaround time is 10-15 working days, but depending on our workload and the time of year (we close for a couple of weeks in summer and at Christmas) we should be able to get certain pieces turned around quicker.

I live outside of the UK, can you make an art piece for me?

We can indeed. If you are based in Europe, then the signs will be to the same spec as if you were here in the UK, with the only difference being delivery cost and timeframe. If you are based in the US or elsewhere, then we will have to use a transformer specific to your country, so this may increase the cost from what it would be for the UK.

The design I have would look great with part of it flashing, can this be done?

We can achieve a variety of different animations with neon, including flashing, chasing and dimming. Let us know what you need and we can work it out for you

Can you make a piece for me that has been made by an artist?

We cannot and do not claim that any of our signs are the same as any made by someone else. If you come to us with a design, we create something in the style of it, but because each piece of glass is hand bent, there will always be slight differences.

I am not sure exactly what I want, can you do some designs for me?

If you do not know exactly what you are after, but have some ideas, get in touch with us. We would be happy to discuss options with you over the phone, by email or even in person. If you want to see some designs before deciding what to get, then our in-house design team can also help.
